LETHBRIDGE, AB – At the end of this month, residents will no longer be able to access the yard waste collection sites that are available at the city’s three recycling centers.

Since the beginning of the spring, they have collected 1.89-million kilograms of compostable yard waste, which is up 500,000 kg from 2018.

“The weight of this yard waste is equivalent to 1,162 mid-sized cars! Grass, leaves and garden waste collected at yard waste sites is composted at the Waste & Recycling Centre and used in city parks and for ground remediation at the landfill,” reads a media release from the City of Lethbridge.

After the sites close for the season, you can still take your yard waste to the Waste & Recycling Centre (landfill) for composting until March 31st, 2020. There are no disposal fees on Saturdays.
