LETHBRIDGE, AB – A Lethbridge man charged in connection with a stabbing last March, has pleaded not guilty to one count of aggravated assault.

29-year-old Jarret Bruce Healy appeared in Lethbridge Provincial Court via CCTV with his lawyer Vince Guinan.

According to Lethbridge Police, on Mar. 5 around 8:30 p.m. they responded to a report of an assault at a residence in the Westside Trailer Court.

Upon arrival, officers located a 29-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds and had to administer first aid prior to the arrival of EMS. The man was subsequently transported to hospital.

Police believe the victim had been socializing at a home with a group of people when a verbal dispute escalated to a physical altercation. The parties were all known to one another.

Healy is also facing 15 charges in relation to a west side shooting that took place in October.

In that instance, police say a 30-year-old man was in his backyard on Columbia Boulevard West just before 8:00 a.m. on Monday, when a man in a white GMC Yukon approached him in the alley. After the suspect allegedly pointed a gun at him, the man ran away and heard a gunshot.

Police say shots were also fired at a home on Dalhousie Court W, and 2 bullet casings were recovered. Police also believe that after leaving the west side, the Yukon drove to the north end where shots were also fired.

The vehicle was found in the Bay parking lot and was later found to have been stolen. A handgun was found inside.

Healy remains in custody by consent. He’ll be back in court December 19.
