National emergency notification system being tested Wednesday

LETHBRIDGE, AB – If you get an emergency notification, don’t be alarmed – it’s just a test.

Another round of testing for the Alert Ready system will take place Wednesday, November 27th across Canada.

Once fully implemented, it will deliver critical and potentially life-saving alerts through TV, radio, and LTE-connected and compatible wireless devices.

Some examples of situations that would prompt a real emergency alert include fires, natural disasters like hurricanes or earthquakes, chemical spills, air quality, terrorist threats, amber alerts, or disruptions to essential services.
