Hurricanes’ Barlage named to Vaughn CHL Team of the Week

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Following up being named the WHL On the Run Player of the Week, Lethbridge Hurricane Logan Barlage has been recognized once again.

Barlage’s been named to the Canadian Hockey League’s (CHL) Vaughn CHL Team of the Week, based off his strong performances in games between November 18 and November 24.

The centreman finished with nine points (three goals, six assists) over three games. His top game came with a season-high five-point effort versus Red Deer. The ‘Canes rocked the Rebels on Saturday, November 23 11-2. His performance earned him third star honours at the conclusion of the game.

Joining Barlage is London Knights (Ontario Hockey League) centre Connor McMichael, a first-round pick of the Washington Capitals. Over a trio of games, he recorded eight points (three goals and five assists).

Rounding out the front-line is right-winger Zane Franklin of the Kamloops Blazers (WHL). In three contests, he scored five goals and dished out two assists.

On the defensive end is Flint Firebirds (OHL) rearguard Riley McCourt, who finished the week with three goals and five assists in three games. McCourt’s four assists in Flint’s 6-4 win over Sarnia earned him OHL On the Run Player of the Week honours.

McMichael’s teammate Ryan Merkley, a San Jose Sharks first-round pick, was also named to the team. He finished the week with two goals and five assists across three games.

Between the pipes is Victoriaville Tigers (QMJHL) rookie Nikolas Hurtubise. In his first two appearances of the season, he stopped a combined 64 shots over 120 minutes to lead the Tigers to a pair of wins.

He recorded his first career shutout in a 2-0 win over the Quebec Ramparts, making 30 saves. He wrapped the week with a 0.50 goals-against-average and .985 save percentage, earning him the Ultramar QMJHL Player of the Week.
