LETHBRIDGE, AB – Two Lethbridge Hurricanes have been named to Team Canada’s Selection Camp.

Hockey Canada made the announcement Monday, listing the 31-player roster for the country’s National Junior Team Sport Chek Selection Camp.

Dylan Cozens and Calen Addison of the Hurricanes made the cut.

19-year-old Addison will be competing for a spot on Team Canada for the second year in a row. The second-round draft pick of the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins has 26 points (seven goals, 19 assists) in 27 games for Lethbridge this season. He’s second across the WHL in points by a defenseman.

Addison has represented Canada at the U-17 and U-18 levels. He helped the national team capture gold at the 2018 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, recording six points in five games.

He also represented Team WHL at the CIBC Canada Russia Series last month, recording two points – including an overtime winner in Saskatoon.

18-year-old Dylan Cozens was selected seventh overall by the Buffalo Sabres in last June’s NHL Entry Draft. In just 26 games since he was reassigned to the Hurricanes, Cozens has scored 18 goals and dished out 22 assists for 40 points. He’s third in the WHL in scoring.

Like Addison, Cozens has represented Canada at both the U-17 and U-18 levels. He was part of Canada’s gold medal winning team at the 2019 Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Edmonton. There, he totalled five points with two goals and three assists over five games.

Cozens also served as an Alternate Captain for Canada at the 2019 World Under-18 Hockey Championships, where he scored four goals and had five assists in seven games.

Eight WHL players were named to the Selection Camp roster. It runs from December 9 to the 12 in Oakville, Ontario.
