CONNIE MAE YANOSIK, beloved wife of Howard Yanosik, passed away peacefully at home, on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the age of 75 years.
Born in Lethbridge on January 31, 1943, to Bill and Grace Johnson, Connie lived her early days on the farm near Vauxhall alongside her sister, Diane, and her brother, Bernie. Connie completed her high school education in Lethbridge. After her mother’s passing, Connie also developed a fond relationship with her stepmother, Bessie, and Bessie’s daughter, Echo. Connie married Howard, and they spent time in Lethbridge, Sicamous, and Okotoks before finally settling in Lethbridge. Their frequent visits to their cabin in Whitefish provided many fond memories with friends and family.
Connie was a hard worker, who enjoyed various jobs over the years. She worked at the local curling club and as a receptionist in a variety of doctors’ offices. She also operated her own concession stand and completed bookkeeping for the family painting business. She was an independent soul who enjoyed a good laugh.
Connie preferred a simple quiet life and was most comfortable when in her own home. She enjoyed needlecrafts and gardening and produced many wonderful cooked, baked, and canned foods in her warm kitchen. Furry cat and dog friends were always a part of her home. When away from home, Connie enjoyed travelling with Howard to accordion festivals in Kimberley and to Arizona in their motor home to escape the cold winter months.
Howard & Connie took great pride in their current home, which they designed together and filled with many personal treasures. They always enjoyed visits from family and friends, and Connie particularly looked forward to conversations with and visits from her brother, Bernie. Connie and Howard lived comfortably together in their home until her passing.
Connie received much devoted care from Howard in recent years. They were both appreciative of the support of family, friends, and neighbours as well as her homecare ladies: Jeanette, Sheila, and Mae. Though dementia caused a slow decline in her final years, Connie especially enjoyed her time sitting with Howard and their beloved pets, Kitty and Duke, in the warmth on their sundeck.
For those who knew and loved her, fond memories of times together will always remain.
For those wishing to pay their respects, a Visitation will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
Connie’s life will be celebrated at a Private Service for close family and friends on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 1:00 pm, at Cornerstone Funeral Home.
A light lunch will be served at Howard and Connie’s home following the service: 144 Coulee Creek Lane South, Lethbridge, AB.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society, #40, 1202 – 2 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 0E3.
