JOHN DOUGLAS “DOUG” OBER, the beloved husband of Shirley Ober, passed away suddenly at his farm on Friday, November 16th, 2018, at the age of 78 years.
Besides his loving wife Shirley, he is survived by three sons, Kevin of Lethbridge, Craig of Calgary and Neal (Rochelle) of Monarch; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one sister, Faye Ward of Lethbridge.
Doug was predeceased by his parents, Ben and Lela Ober, one brother, Bob Ober, one sister-in-law June Ober, one brother-in-law Don Ward.
Doug & Shirley were married March 21st, 1959. He was a farmer for over 60 years, working hard like a farmer needs to do. Besides farming, he loved to travel and enjoyed travelling to Arizona, Palm Springs, as well as spending time at their other home in Whitefish, MT. His pride and joy were his grandchildren. Doug loved having Christmas festivities at the family farm, skiing, golf and the Calgary Flames. He spent many years on the Canadian Ski Patrol, Coaldale Kinsmen Club, and was a board member of the Ptarmigan Village.
Doug was well loved for his humour, respect and generous spirit. He definitely had a unique sense of humour and a quick wit. His quiet courage, the strength of spirit and creativity will be carried forward by those who know and loved him. He will be truly missed by everyone.
