MEL SAMESHIMA, beloved husband of Jan Sameshima, of Lethbridge, passed away at home, on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the age of 65 years.
Besides his loving wife Jan, Mel is survived by his children Jodie (Robin) Gaskell and their children Braeden and Teagan of Lethbridge and David (Amy) Sameshima and Abigail and Imogen of Medicine Hat. He is also survived by his sisters Deb (Ted) Hannah, Kristy Svoboda and Lori (Jim) Hendricks as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Mel was predeceased by his parents Miyeko Ruth (Mom) and Muneyoshi (Dad).
Mel was born in Lethbridge and was raised in Raymond and Taber. He met Jan in 1975 and they just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Mel worked for 30 years with AGT and Telus. His big loves were golfing, fishing and skiing. Mel and Jan liked to travel and spent ten years after his retirement in Kauai, HI, where the golf season never ended. The family cherishes time spent camping and at the family cabin. Mel is in peace now after living with pulmonary fibrosis.
A Come and Go Reception will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Friday, November 16, 2018 from 11:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. In memory of Mel, the family encourages you to please dress in Aloha wear or casual clothing.
