Firearm, drugs, stolen property seized during search of west Lethbridge home

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge Police have arrested a 50-year-old woman after they searched her home Thursday afternoon.

As part of an ongoing investigation into drug activity, police obtained a search warrant for the residence on Assiniboia Way.

Six occupants were inside the home and police claim to have found a .22 calibre rifle, a small quantity of methamphetamine, a large quantity of an unknown powder believed to be a buffing agent, just over $2,000 in cash, drug trafficking paraphernalia, stolen ID, credit cards, and multiple stolen bicycles.

Five of the occupants were released without charges, but Cheri Ellen Komar was apprehended.

She is charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon obtained by the commission of an offence, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime, possession of stolen identity documents, possession of stolen credit cards and three counts of breach of a recognizance.

Komar remains in custody and is awaiting a bail hearing.

The investigation is ongoing and police expect that additional charges could be laid.
