Lethbridge Police say alleged assault in Galt Gardens drug-related

LETHBRIDGE, AB- Two Lethbridge men man have both been charged with aggravated assault and robbery, in connection with an incident at Galt Gardens on Friday, Dec. 6.

Lethbridge Police say around 8:30 a.m., a 37-year-old man went to the public park in the city’s downtown and was attacked by three men who were known to him. Some cash was taken, and the victim was then bear sprayed and hit on the head with a metal object. A passerby found an injured male a short time later and called 9-1-1. The victim was taken to Chinook Regional Hospital and treated for multiple cuts and later released.

Police say during their investigation they found the victim and his alleged attackers were known to one another, and the matter was likely drug related.

43-year-old Steven Gordon Quebec was located later the same morning riding a stolen bike in the 1400 blk of 2 Ave. N. and was arrested without incident.

19-year-old Dre Kade Sweet Grass was found by Community Peace Officers in the downtown area Dec. 7 and arrested as he attempted to run away.

Both men are in custody and will be in Lethbridge Provincial Court Dec. 10.
