Man charged in connection with weekend assault

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Police in Lethbridge have charged one man following an assault over the weekend.

At around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, LPS responded to a report of “suspicious circumstances”.

They said blood was found inside and outside of an apartment building on the 3500 block of Sylvan Road South. Police reported that a 51-year-old man was located inside one of the units and that he was suffering from head injuries that were “bleeding profusely”.

The man was treated for multiple facial fractures, according to LPS.

Police said it wad determined that earlier in the evening, the victim had been involved in an argument with an acquaintance that became a physical altercation.

The acquaintance was found at his home and arrested without incident, LPS said in a release.

41-year-old Mitchell Jedidiah Chambers has been charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm. He has since been released from custody and is scheduled to be in court on January 30, 2020.
