Suspect connected to fatal Fort Macleod collision turns himself in

FORT MACLEOD, AB – A man connected with a fatal collision in Fort Macleod has turned himself in.

For the last few days, Mounties had been on the lookout for Tristan Big Sorrel Horse, of Glenwood.

RCMP say he had been involved in a serious collision that resulted in the death of the 19-year-old passenger in the vehicle on December 15, 2019.

Following the incident, RCMP were unable to locate the suspect, so a warrant for his arrest was issued.

The warrant was executed Sunday morning, December 22. RCMP stated that at around 9:30 a.m., Big Sorrel Horse turned himself into police.

The 19-year has been charged with:

· Dangerous driving causing death

· Fail to remain at the scene of an accident resulting in death

· Operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited

RCMP noted in a release that Big Sorrel Horse is in custody and is being held for a justice interim release hearing. As of press time, as court date has yet to be determined.
