Psalm 84:1 “How lovely is your dwelling place O Lord Almighty!”
PIETER de GRAAF, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Tetje “Teresa” de Graaf, was called home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at the age of 94 years.
Pieter is survived by his children: Hennie (Bill), Jetty (Marinus), Janet (Jim), Pearl (Paul – deceased), Sid (Anita), John (Deb) and Ivan as well as 25 loving grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Besides his beloved wife Teresa, he was predeceased by his son Dirk, missing daughter Donna Cupido, his parents and six siblings.
Pieter was born in Hallum, the Netherlands on September 6, 1925. He was the oldest of a family of 12 children. After graduating from high school, he served in a peace keeping mission in Indonesia from 1946 to 1949. Pieter married Teresa Vander Ploeg on May 10, 1951. They immigrated to Canada with his in-laws and raised nine children in Vauxhall. He worked for the PFRA and BRID in various capacities. He loved serving on church councils and was treasurer for the Elim Society; volunteering many hours in serving the Lord’s people.
God and family were his priorities. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family. His last four and a half years were spent at Legacy Lodge, where he made many friends and was grateful for all the care and love provided to him.
A Funeral Service will be held at GRACE REFORMED CHURCH, 1402 – 8 Avenue North, Lethbridge, AB, on Monday, December 30, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Wybren Oord officiating.
Pieter will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife at Royal View Cemetery.
