Autonomous snow-clearing robot hits Grande Prairie streets
Grande Prairie – The city of Grande Prairie has introduced a new pilot project, in the form of an automated snow-clearing robot.
The robot, called a R-T-1000 from Left Hand Robotics, is now clearing the trail around the Bear Creek Reservoir.
Rory Tarant, senior executive advisor of infrastructure, says the robot is a way to streamline services.
“So, this is an initiative of the city, looking at ways to maximize our services while at the same time trying to keep our costs down, and this is one of those initiatives. Obviously, we see across the world that automation is coming to help enhance these services, service provision and business provisions.”
