Boil Water Advisory issued for Town of Granum

Jan 1, 2020 | 2:26 AM

GRANUM — A water main break in the Town of Granum, has prompted Alberta Health Services (AHS), to issue a Boil Water Advisory for the town, as a precautionary measure.

A notice on the Granum website indicates the water main break has been repaired. However, residents need to run the water for 15 minutes in their homes, and flush toilets repeatedly, to remove any murkiness in the water.

Until further notice, the Town is under a boil water advisory. All water intended for consumption MUST be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute before being used for the following:

— drinking

— brushing teeth

— cleaning raw foods

— preparing infant formula or juices

— making ice, etc.

Water samples have been sent to the Alberta Provincial Laboratory to confirm safety and adequate chlorination. When water safety is confirmed, the boil water order will be lifted.

Water used for bathing or washing clothes does not need to be boiled. For hand-washing, wash with soap and water and use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing more than 60 per cent alcohol after drying your hands.

Residents may choose to purchase bottled water for consumption, for the duration of this advisory.

This advisory order will remain in effect until further notice.
