Parks Canada opens online campsite bookings this week

EDMONTON — Parks Canada will launch reservations for campsites over the summer starting Jan. 7 in Alberta, with Jasper National Park online bookings being the first. Other park bookings will open throughout the week.
Waterton Lakes National Park will open its reservations on Jan. 9 while to the east of Medicine Hat, Grasslands National Park opens their online reservations on Jan. 10.
Timing for operating seasons and the reservable period will vary by park. For Waterton Townsite, the operating season runs from from April 10 to October 11, while the reservable period is May 8 to September 9.
“If you haven’t used the reservation system before, it’s always good to go out and get an account in advanced, it (the online system) works just like Ticketmaster. The more things you already done it’ll make things flow a lot better,” said Steve Young, the Public Relations and Communications Officer for Jasper National Park.
