LETHBRIDGE, AB – A 29-year-old man charged with the attempted murder of a 41-year-old last month, will stay behind bars – for now.

A bail hearing was held in Lethbridge Provincial Court Monday, Jan. 13 for Kyle Lewis Crow Chief. He appeared via CCTV from the Edmonton Remand Centre, where he is currently being held.

The judge in the case told the court he did not want to decide based on his initial reaction, but rather to ensure the law is followed.

Crow Chief has been behind bars, since he was arrested in Edmonton Dec. 9, 2019.

Blood Tribe Police say around 2:25 a.m. on Dec. 7, they responded to a report of a man shot with a firearm. The 41-year-old victim was taken to Fort Macleod, then via STARS Air Ambulance to Calgary with life threatening injuries.

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit became involved when it was believed the person responsible fled the area. A warrant was then issued for Crow Chief.

A judge will rule whether Crow Chief will be denied or granted bail on Friday, Jan. 17, and what, if any conditions might follow.
