Four Hurricanes listed by NHL’s Central Scouting Service
LETHBRIDGE, AB – The National Hockey League (NHL) Central Scouting Service has released its midterm rankings ahead of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. Four Lethbridge Hurricanes made the list.
They are Oliver Okuliar, Alex Cotton, Noah Boyko and Bryan Thomson.
19-year-old Okuliar is fresh off time with Team Slovakia at the IIHF World Juniors tournament. At the event, he finished with four points in five games. He was undrafted in his first two years of being eligible for the NHL draft and was ranked 117th among North American skaters. This season, Okuliar leads the ‘Canes with 24 goals, totaling 44 points across 34 games.
18-year-old Alex Cotton also went undrafted in his first year of eligibility for the big league’s draft. The Langley, B.C. native was ranked 118th overall. He currently leads all Western Hockey League (WHL) defensemen in scoring with 43 points (12 goals and 31 assists). He’s also collected 24 penalty minutes this season. In his rookie campaign last season, he had 11 points in 54 games.
