U of L and Lethbridge College Weekend Sports Preview: January 17-19, 2020

LETHBRIDGE, AB – It’s a busy weekend for Lethbridge College and U of L sports teams. Of note is the Canada West 7’s Series Tournament for the U of L women’s rugby team in Edmonton.

Here’s a preview of this weekend’s action.

LETHBRIDGE COLLEGE KODIAKS

The women’s volleyball team hopes to snap a 10-game losing streak when they face Olds College in Lethbridge tonight (Jan. 17) at 6:00 p.m.

That’ll be followed with a matchup against Olds tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.

The Kodiaks men’s volleyball team on the other hand, looks to build up a winning streak after a 3-0 victory over Red Deer College last Saturday (Jan. 11). They face Olds College in Lethbridge tonight at 8:00 p.m. before a game against the Broncos tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.

The women’s basketball team will try to bounce back after a 53-51 loss to Medicine Hat College on Thursday, January 9 when they hit the road against Ambrose University tonight. Game time is 6:00 p.m.

Tomorrow, the Kodiaks will host the Lions with the game also set for 6 o’clock.

The men’s basketball team beat Medicine Hat College in their last game on January 9 (86-61). Like the women’s squad, they visit Ambrose University tonight with game time at 8:00 p.m.

Tomorrow’s home game against Ambrose will also tip-off at 8:00 p.m.

U OF L PRONGHORNS

The men’s basketball team’s on home court tomorrow (Jan. 18) against Mount Royal University.

On Thursday night, the Pronghorns picked up the 102-93 victory in Calgary, snapping a three-game losing skid. The women’s basketball club didn’t fare as well, losing to Mount Royal 78-74 on Thursday.

It’s a rematch tomorrow in Lethbridge. The women’s club plays at 5:00 p.m., with the men at 7:00 p.m.

The men’s hockey team is in Edmonton for a series of games with the University of Alberta. Tonight’s game is at 7:00 p.m. with tomorrow’s puck drop also set for 7 o’clock. The team is looking to break a four-game losing streak.

The women’s club is on home ice against the University of Alberta Pandas. Tonight’s game is at 7, with tomorrow’s matinee set for 1:00 p.m. The women’s team is on a six-game losing streak, including an overtime loss to the University of Regina on January 3.

In women’s rugby, the Canada West 7’s Series Tournament – Alberta is this weekend. The Pronghorns face the University of the Fraser valley at 10:12 a.m. tomorrow (Jan. 18) in Edmonton, UBC Okanagan at 12:46 p.m. and the University of British Columbia at 3:42 p.m.
