Province hosting “telephone town hall” on Jan. 28 to get input on 2020 budget

LETHBRIDGE, AB – You can let the Government of Alberta know what their next provincial budget should look like.

Finance Minister Travis Toews will be hosting two telephone town halls in the final week of January to let the people provide their input.

The first will be on Monday, January 27th, but will only be for residents who live north of Red Deer.

A second teleconference will be held on Tuesday, January 28th from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm and is open to all Albertans who live in Red Deer or south of it.

“Residents will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide their views on spending and saving priorities, as well as ideas for job creation and growing Alberta’s economy,” reads a media release from the province.

Anyone who has a publicly-listen phone number will be called automatically, assuming you are not on the Provincial Do Not Call list.

You can pre-register your cell phone or landline phone number to be added to the list of people who will be contacted, or you can phone 1-877-229-8493 and enter the ID code “115500” to take part.

Alternatively, comments can be submitted online until the end of the business day on Friday, February 7th.

The online forum will ask about your spending priorities, where the government could find savings, and how the province should support job creation and economic growth.

The Government of Alberta, lead by the United Conservative Party, is expected to release the upcoming budget early this year.
