REGINA, SK – The Lethbridge Hurricanes were firing on all cylinders on Friday night, putting on a scoring showcase in Regina against the Pats.

FIRST PERIOD

Dylan Cozens got things started quickly, scoring 59 seconds into the game thanks to an assist from his Team Canada teammate Calen Addison.

Before the 10-minute mark, at 8:42, Oliver Okuliar scored his 27th of the season to put Lethbridge up 2-0. Chase Wheatcroft and Cozens earned the assists.

Okuliar was issued a minor penalty for cross checking minutes later at the 10:44 mark. Regina, however, was unable to capitalize on the power play.

Instead, Cozens scored his second of the game and 26th of the season at 14:46 to give Lethbridge the healthy 3-0 lead, courtesy of assists from Addison and Okuliar.

Before the period came to a close, Regina’s Steven Zonneveld was called for hooking, receiving a minor penalty at 18:44.

SECOND PERIOD

Lethbridge came out firing right away, with Alex Cotton scoring his 14th of the season 45 seconds into the frame. Okuliar and Addison earned the assists.

3:48 into the period, Cale Sanders was issued a minor penalty for hooking. Shortly after, Zack Stringer scored to put Lethbridge up 5-0 at the 6:24 mark.

Seconds later, though, Regina responded. Zach Wytinck scored his sixth goal of the year at 6:33, putting the Pats on the board.

At the 19:47 mark, Regina’s Carson Denomie was called for slashing, earning a minor penalty as the period came to a close.

THIRD PERIOD

4:20 into the final period, Ryker Evans was given a minor penalty for spearing, which put the Hurricanes on the PP.

The ‘Canes capitalized, with Oliver Okuliar scoring his second of the game and 28th goal of the season to put Lethbridge up 6-1. Once again, it was Calen Addison with the assist, along with Alex Cotton.

Over two minutes later, at 7:53, Cotton scored his second of the game to bring the score to 7-1 in Lethbridge’s favour. Addison and Zack Stringer earned the assists.

The Pats would try to fight back, though. At the 13:18 mark, Robbie Holmes scored his 17th of the season bringing the score to 7-2.

Unfortunately for Pats fans, that was all she wrote.

Before the final buzzer sounded, Lethbridge’s Danila Palivko was given a minor penalty for cross checking at the 16:09 mark.

The clock ran down and just like that, the Hurricanes improved to 2-1 on their current road trip.

Up next for Lethbridge is a meeting with the Brandon Wheat Kings tomorrow night, January 25. Meanwhile, the Pats go up against the Saskatoon Blades on Sunday.
