Jan 31, 2020 | 9:44 PM

PRINCE ALBERTA, SASK. — After the Hurricanes posted three wins in a row on an eastern road trip last week – against Moose Jaw, Regina and Brandon – the team again ventured east for another set of matches.

Unfortunately, the first match brought a halt to Lethbridge’s win streak.

The first 20-minutes of action was scoreless, with just two minor penalties. When the puck dropped for the second frame, it took P-A’s Ilya Usau roughly 60-seconds to put his team on the board. Just two minutes later, the Canes’ Trevor Thurston planted an unassisted goal on the Raiders’ net and the score was tied 1-1.

The remainder of the game belonged to Prince Albert. Sixteen minutes into the second frame, Brayden Watts took at run at the Canes’ net and slid one past Carl Tetachuk, taking the score to 2-1 for the Raiders.

The first bit of action in the final period came three minutes in, as the Canes’ Chase Wheatcroft was sent to the box for high-sticking. At 15:44, Lethbridge headed into its fifth penalty kill of the night, after Ty Prefontaine was tapped for boarding. The penalty provided the Raiders with a power play opportunity and Zack Hayes took advantage of the chance on the Canes’ net, giving his team a 3-1 lead.

The fourth goal for Prince Albert came with just 20-seconds left on the clock. Brayden Watts scored his second of the night on the Hurricanes’ empty net.

The loss leaves the Hurricanes in third spot in the Central division at 29-12-2-5 as they move on to play Saskatoon on Saturday (Feb 1) night.
