LETHBRIDGE, AB – With some teams prepping for the playoffs, others are looking to wrap their regular seasons on a high note.

Here’s a preview of some of the weekend sports action out of Lethbridge College and the University of Lethbridge.

LETHBRIDGE COLLEGE KODIAKS

As they prepare for the ACAC playoffs, the Kodiaks men’s basketball team has four more games before wrapping the regular season.

The first-place crew visited St. Mary’s University last night (Feb. 6) and picked up the 95-77 victory. Brock Dewsbery led the way with 22 points, with Jaxon Davison posting an impressive 12 point-12 rebound double-double.

The women’s basketball club also visited St. Mary’s, but fell 89-63. Natalie Hoyt led the team in scoring with 15 points. The women’s team sits in fourth place in the ACAC south division.

Both teams face Olds College on February 14.

The men’s volleyball team will try to extend their win streak to six games as they host Medicine Hat College tonight (Feb. 7) at 8:00 p.m. Tomorrow, it’s a rematch in Medicine Hat at 8 o’clock. The team sits in second place in the ACAC south division.

The women’s volleyball team is in sixth place in the ACAC south. They lost both of their matchups last weekend against Ambrose University. They’re at home against Medicine Hat tonight at 6:00 p.m. before a game in Medicine Hat tomorrow evening at 6 o’clock.

U OF L PRONGHORNS

The Pronghorns men’s basketball team recently clinched the 11th and final playoff spot in the Canada West standings. They have two games left on the regular season. They’ll host Thompson Rivers University at 8:00 p.m. tonight (Feb. 7) and again tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. in Lethbridge.

It’s been a tough season for the men’s hockey team, who will not be competing in the post-season. They wrap the regular season with a matchup in Calgary tonight (7:00 p.m.) against the U of C before hosting the Dinos tomorrow at 7 o’clock.

The women’s team will also miss out on the playoffs, sitting in seventh place in the standings. Tonight (Feb. 7), they’ll welcome the U of C Dinos to Lethbridge at 7:00 p.m. before closing out their season in Calgary tomorrow night at 6:00 p.m.

Following up on the Bison Classic in Manitoba last weekend, the Pronghorns track and field team is a little bit closer to home tonight and tomorrow.

Athletes will be competing at the Panda Open, hosted by the University of Alberta Pandas. Later this month, from February 21 to 22, the team will be at the Canada West Championships in Saskatoon.
