Local wrestlers rack up medals at weekend tournament

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge Collegiate Institute hosted 122 wrestlers over the weekend.

Athletes competed in the 2020 ASAA (Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association) Rural Provincial Wrestling Championships.

Local wrestlers fared quite well, with 19 Lethbridge athletes qualifying to attend the ASAA Provincial Championships in two weeks at Crescent Heights High School in Calgary.

Stirling School had three qualify with Cardston sending three as well. Both schools are in their inaugural seasons with their wrestling programs.

The high number of participants was a big jump from the 86 that competed in 2019.
