LETHBRIDGE, AB – Sohil Bindra, 33, originally faced four charges regarding an alleged sexual assault against one woman. He now faces a combined 14 charges for incidents involving six women.

Bindra appeared in Lethbridge Court of Queen’s Bench Tuesday, where Crown Prosecutor Dawn Janecke explains that new information was presented.

An additional five women came forward with accusations of sexual assault by Bindra for matters dating back to 2017.

His original charges were one count of housebreaking, one count of commit sexual assault, and two counts of sexual assault.

This was in relation to a reported incident on February 7/8, 2020, where Bindra met two women at a bar. A short time later, the 18-year-old woman began feeling unwell.

He reportedly took the woman home and left, but later returned and sexually assaulted her.

Janecke did not have the exact information on the new charges at the time she spoke to LNN, but said, in addition to numerous counts of sexual assault, the new charges also include administering a noxious substance.

The crown is expected to oppose Bindra’s release from custody during a scheduled bail hearing later this week.
