LETHBRIDGE, AB – Following an exciting competition that had the crowd on its feet in 2019, the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Canada’s Monster Energy Tour returns to Lethbridge this weekend.

The event has athletes tackling bulls often 10 times their size in an attempt to make the eight-second buzzer in what some call the “ultimate contest of man versus beast”.

The return to Lethbridge’s ENMAX Centre comes after a highly contested national title race last year.

2019 Lethbridge event winner Jared Parsonage entered the season-ending PBR Canada Finals 32.49 points ahead of number-two ranked Dakota Buttar.

It seemed like a comfortable lead, but Daylon Swearingen ended up claiming the 2019 PBR Canada Championship, erasing a close to 1,000-point gap on the last day of competition to go from number-four to number-one in the country.

At the Lethbridge event last year, Parsonage was the only rider to go a perfect 3-for-3. The Maple Creek, Saskatchewan native netted 535 points. Fans in attendance were also treated to a strong performance by reigning PBR Canada Bull of the Year Happy Camper (Two Bit Bucking Bulls).

The bovine athlete earned an event best 44.5 points for his 3.22 second buckoff of Jake Lockwood of Volborg, Montana.

In the 2020 PBR Canada National Standings, Dakota Buttar sits in first place, Garrett Green in second and Parsonage in third.

The PBR Monster Energy Tour: South Country Co-Op Showdown takes place this Friday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7 at the ENMAX Centre in Lethbridge. Tickets and more details can be found here.
