UPDATE: ACAC Futsal Championships postponed

LLOYDMINSTER, AB – UPDATE: In an effort to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus, a decision has been made to postpone the 2020 ACAC Futsal Championships. Both the Lethbridge College Kodiaks men and women’s teams were set to participate in the tournament. The decision was made between the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) and the Alberta Soccer Association.

The Lethbridge College Kodiaks will be well represented at the 2020 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Futsal Championships.

Both the men and women’s teams will be competing at the tournament hosted by Lakeland College in Lloydminster, Alberta. Last year, it was the Kodiaks that hosted the ACAC title tournament.

In exhibition play over the course of the season, the men’s team accumulated a three wins and four losses record.

They’ll face Ambrose University at 1:30 p.m. in their tournament opener on Friday, March 13.

On Saturday, March 14, the Kodiaks will face SAIT at 11:00 a.m. and they’ll meet Keyano College at 3:15 p.m. Championship and final matchups will take place on Sunday, March 15.

The women’s club secured four wins and suffered three losses in exhibition play. Additionally, the team tied with The King’s University 1-1 on Saturday, January 18.

They will face Keyano on Friday, March 13 at 2:45 p.m., Ambrose on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and Olds College later Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m.

In all, there are 16 teams competing in the tournament – eight on the men’s side and eight on the women’s side.

The ACAC all-conference awards banquet will take place Friday night, with doors opening at 6:00 p.m. at the Rolling Greens Golf Club in Lloydminster.
