Town of Taber announces several closures & cancellations
TABER, AB – Taber town council passed a resolution at Monday’s special meeting to enact precautionary measures to protect the public.
Despite the provincial government’s announcement Tuesday that Premier Jason Kenney is declaring a state of public emergency, the municipality said at that “there is NO State of Local Emergency in effect for the Town of Taber at this time.”
“This situation with COVID-19 is very fluid and Council is constantly monitoring the Government of Alberta’s recommendations,” says Mayor Andrew Prokop. “Based on those recommendations and in giving highest credence to the safety of our residents and staff, Council decided to make the resolution that it did today.”
“These decisions were not made lightly, but they were made to help protect our citizens, and we as a Council are thankful to everyone for their continued cooperation and patience as we deal with this ever-changing situation,” adds Prokop.
