CALGARY – The organizers of a holistic expo in Calgary have scrubbed a presentation by an Alberta man who was convicted in the death of his toddler.

The Body Soul and Spirit Expo has announced it’s removed David Stephan from participating in the event at the end of the month and is now reviewing its exhibitor application process.

The event was to be held at the Grey Eagle Resort and Casino, which says the Expo issued the statement after it expressed its concerns to the organizers.

In February, Stephan was also removed from a speaker lineup at a wellness expo slated for Saskatoon, after a major sponsors threatened to pull out.

Stephan and his wife were both found guilty in 2016 of failing to provide the necessaries of life to their son Ezekiel, who died in 2012 from bacterial meningitis after he was treated with garlic, onion and horseradish instead of being taken to a doctor.

The Stephan’s appealed thier sentences, however, in November of 2017, an Appeal Court upheld the conviction.  The Stephans are now appealing to the Supreme Court.
