Lethbridge Jazz & Blues Festival cancelled due to COVID-19

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Fans of jazz music in the Lethbridge area are sure to be feeling the blues.

The Lethbridge Jazz Society has decided to not move forward with this year’s Jazz & Blues Festival.

The event was scheduled to take place June 13-20, 2020.

“The 2020 iteration would have been the 10th anniversary of the festival and we were looking forward to the many great artists we had planned to bring to Lethbridge for this event,” reads a statement from President Mike Prociw.

“While we are disappointed, we recognize the essential role social distancing plays in reducing the spread and support the current actions to limit the minimize the impact of COVID-19.”

Prociw told LNN they were expecting around 2,000 people to be in attendance at this year’s festival.

He adds that they will spend the next several months planning for the 2021 event and thinking about ways they can improve it going forward.

“We look forward to seeing all of you next year and will work to ensure the 2021 festival is our best event yet.”
