South Zone COVID-19 cases nearly double in one day to 142
LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Government of Alberta has announced a sharp rise in confirmed COVID-19 infections around the province, the large portion of which are in the South Health Zone.
241 new cases were confirmed in Alberta on Sunday, April 19, bringing the total to 2,803.
An additional four deaths were announced, three of which are in the Calgary Health Zone and one in the North Health Zone.
While nobody in the South Health Zone has yet to die as a result of the virus, the number of cases ballooned from 77 on Saturday to 142 on Sunday. Nearly all of the new infections are in Brooks.
