Remaining active COVID-19 cases in Alberta drops below five per cent

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Government of Alberta has released its latest report on COVID-19 for Thursday, June 4.

Just 15 new infections were confirmed, bringing the total to 7,091. Of those, only 334 cases are still active while 6,611 people have recovered.

This includes three additional infections in the South Health Zone – one each in Lethbridge, Cardston County, and Medicine Hat.

One more person in the Calgary Health Zone has died as a result of the virus, meaning COVID-19 has now claimed the lives of 146 Albertans.

48 patients remain in hospital, six of whom have been admitted to intensive care units.

To date, 275,524 tests for COVID-19 have been processed.

The breakdown by regional health zone is as follows:

  • Calgary zone – 4,920 cases, 247 active
    • 107 deaths (one death)
    • 32 in hospital, four in ICU
    • 117,876 tests
  • South zone – 1,243 cases, 21 active
    • Nine deaths
    • Three in hospital, one in ICU
    • 19,417 tests
  • Edmonton zone – 566 cases, 47 active
    • 13 deaths
    • Nine in hospital, one in ICU
    • 68,059 tests
  • North zone – 251 cases, 18 active
    • 16 deaths
    • Four in hospital
    • 19,248 tests
  • Central zone – 98 cases, zero active
    • One death
    • 19,601 tests

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,095 cases, three active, eight deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 42 cases (one new), five active
  • Lethbridge – 29 cases (one new), two active
    • South Lethbridge – 13 cases, one active
    • West Lethbridge – 13 cases (one new), one active
    • North Lethbridge – Three cases, zero active
  • Cardston County – 26 cases (one new), three active
  • Cypress County – 18 cases, seven active
  • County of Newell – 15 cases, one active
  • Fort Macleod – Five cases, zero active
  • Special Areas No. 2 – Two cases, zero active, one death
  • M.D. of Taber – Two cases, zero active
  • County of Forty Mile – Two cases, zero active
  • Lethbridge County – One case, zero active
