Lethbridge Speed Skating Association announces season award winners

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Local skaters have been recognized for their work on the ice.

The Lethbridge Speed Skating Association (LSSA) has announced the recipients of their 2019-2020 awards. Announcements were made virtually in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The LSSA said awards were dropped off at recipients’ homes, respecting physical distancing protocols, at the end of May.

“While the end of the speed skating season was cut short by three weeks, each athlete trained hard and as an organization we are very proud of their achievements,” the LSSA stated in a release.

The winners are as follows:

· Skater of the Year: Jonnathan McIntosh and Mikka Eaves (tie)

· Most Outstanding Female Skater: Zosia Adelman

· Most Outstanding Male Skater: Zak Adelman and Braeden Kremenik (tie)

· Most Improved Male Skater: Riley Vandenburgh

· Most Improved Female Skater: Marie Cormier

· Sportsmanship Award: Jasmine Belisle

· Rookie of the Year: Cooper Jensen

· Volunteer of the Year: Hans Wesseling and Rayel Green

· Most Improved in the FUNDamental Level: Donovan Ellison, Claire Peake and Rachel Peake (tie)

· Most Improved in the L2T Level: Lincoln Eaves, Zoe Wesseling and Gavin Ogilvie (tie)
