48 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Alberta on Saturday

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The province confirmed 48 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, June 20.

The latest figure brings the total number of cases in Alberta to 7,673. Out of those total cases, 525 are listed as active, meaning 6,996 Albertans have recovered from the novel coronavirus.

The province lists 39 individuals in hospital, with six in intensive care (ICU). No new deaths were reported on Saturday, with 152 people in Alberta having succumbed to the virus.

In total, 381,075 tests have been completed.

The following is a breakdown of cases per health zone in the province:

· Calgary Zone: 5,180 (238 active cases)

· South Zone: 1,288 (22 active cases)

· Edmonton Zone: 823 (226 active cases)

· North Zone: 277 (32 active cases)

· Central Zone: 89 (three active cases)

There are 16 cases in an unknown zone, with four listed as active.

For the South Health Zone, the province has changed the way it displays information on the geospatial map, which is how LNN receives the information for this. Due to the changes, some of the local numbers may be off from what we have previously reported.

· Brooks – 1,119 cases, two active, nine deaths

· Medicine Hat – 36 cases, zero active

· Lethbridge – 36 cases, five active

o North Lethbridge – eight cases, three active

o West Lethbridge – 14 cases, one active

o South Lethbridge – 14 cases, one active

· Cardston County – 39 cases, nine active, one death

· Cypress County – 21 cases, zero active

· County of Newell – 20 cases, zero active

· Fort Macleod – nine cases, three active

· Lethbridge County – three cases, three active

· M.D. of Taber – two cases, zero active

· County of Forty Mile – two cases, zero active
