Cardston County, Lethbridge County, Fort Macleod see new COVID cases Thursday

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Government of Alberta has released its COVID-19 update for Thursday, June 9.

37 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 8,519. Of those, 584 cases are still active while 7,774 people have recovered.

This includes five more infections in the South Zone with two in Cardston County, two for Fort Macleod, and one in Lethbridge County.

Three more Albertans have died as a result of COVID-19, all of whom are from the Edmonton Health Zone. To date, 161 Albertans have succumbed to the virus.

507,169 tests for COVID-19 have been completed throughout the pandemic.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is a follows:

  • Calgary zone – 5,485 cases, 220 active
    • 112 deaths
    • 188,678 tests
  • South zone – 1,385 cases, 90 active
    • 12 deaths
    • 32,162 tests
  • Edmonton zone – 1,179 cases, 215 active
    • 20 deaths (three new)
    • 144,505 tests
  • North zone – 350 cases, 42 active
    • 16 deaths
    • 35,448 tests
  • Central zone – 101 cases, 11 active
    • One death
    • 32,720 tests

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,119 cases, one active, nine deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 49 cases, 10 active, one death
  • Lethbridge – 49 cases, nine active
    • West Lethbridge – 22 cases, five active
    • South Lethbridge – 16 cases, two active
    • North Lethbridge – 11 cases, two active
  • Cardston County – 44 cases (two new), six active, one death
  • County of Warner – 41 cases, 39 active, one death
  • Cypress County – 30 cases, nine active
  • County of Newell – 21 cases, one active
  • M.D. of Taber – 12 cases, nine active
  • Fort Macleod – Nine cases (two new), two active
  • County of Forty Mile – Five cases, two active
  • Lethbridge County – Five cases (one new), two active
