LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Government of Alberta has released its report on COVID-19 for Friday, July 10.

77 new cases were confirmed across Alberta, which is the highest single-day increase in at least a month, bringing the total to 8,596. Of those, 592 cases are still active while 7,844 people have recovered.

This includes another 13 infections in the South Health Zone with cases in Lethbridge, Lethbridge County, Cardston County, the County of Warner, Fort Macleod, and Medicine Hat.

The largest rise was in Lethbridge County, an area that spans Coaldale, Coalhurst, Picture Butte, and other neighbouring communities.

In Thursday’s COVID update, it was reported that 161 Albertans had died as a result of the virus, but the province now says the number is 160. One death was removed from the tally in the Edmonton zone, and while we cannot confirm this for sure, it could mean that one person who was believed to have died because of COVID-19 might have died for a different reason instead.

514,970 tests have been completed in Alberta.
