133 new COVID cases confirmed across Alberta

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Government of Alberta has released Wednesday’s report on COVID-19, detailing the numbers over the past 24 hours.

133 cases were confirmed in the province, bringing the total to 9,861. Of those, 1,251 cases are still active and 8,436 people have recovered.

This includes another eight infections in the South Health Zone.

For Lethbridge, two cases that were previously listed on the north side are no longer displayed while one new infection was confirmed on the west side. Overall, the number of cases to date in the city declined by one.

Another two Albertans have died as a result of the virus – both in the Edmonton Zone – meaning it has claimed the lives of 174 people in the province.

102 are currently hospitalized and 18 have been admitted to intensive care units (ICU).

606,465 tests have been completed in Alberta.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is a follows:

  • Calgary zone – 6,127 cases, 635 active
    • 115 deaths
    • 215,639 tests
  • South zone – 1,543 cases, 153 active
    • 13 deaths
    • 37,264 tests
  • Edmonton zone – 1,440 cases, 236 active
    • 28 deaths (two new)
    • 171,179 tests
  • North zone – 461 cases, 86 active
    • 17 deaths
    • 42,298 tests
  • Central zone – 266 cases, 153 active
    • One death
    • 39.276 tests

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,121 cases, three active, nine deaths
  • Lethbridge – 88 cases, 37 active
    • West Lethbridge – 41 cases (one new), 18 active
    • South Lethbridge – 26 cases, 10 active
    • North Lethbridge – 21 cases, nine active
  • Cardston County – 66 cases (two new), 17 active, two deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 58 cases (two new), eight active, one death
  • County of Warner – 48 cases, six active, one death
  • Cypress County – 30 cases, zero active
  • Fort Macleod – 28 cases, 13 active
  • M.D. of Taber – 27 cases, 15 active
  • County of Newell – 22 cases, two active
  • Lethbridge County – 21 cases (three new), 12 active
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 16 cases, 12 active
  • County of Forty Mile – Nine cases (one new), three active
  • Crowsnest Pass – One case, one active
