Province announces $48-million to continue COVID-19 homeless supports
LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Government of Alberta is continuing to provide extra supports to several homeless shelters across the province.
Back in March, $25-million was allocated to shelter spaces in Lethbridge, Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, Grande Prairie, Lac La Biche, Lloydminster, and Drayton Valley.
Minister of Community and Social Services Rajan Sawhney says an additional $48-million will allow this will carry on.
“This means isolation and care centres will continue to operate through winter and into next spring, making sure individuals with no fixed address can self-isolate if they are sick or waiting for test results and can receive medical care if they need it.”
