South Zone sees slow day for COVID, only three cases confirmed

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Government of Alberta has released Wednesday’s report on COVID-19, detailing the numbers over the past 24 hours.

94 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 11,240. Of those, 1,146 cases are active while 9,891 people have recovered.

Among the new infections, only three were in the South Health Zone with one each in Lethbridge, Cardston County, and the County of Forty Mile.

Another three Albertans have died from COVID-19 including two people in the Central Zone and one in the North Zone. 203 people have succumbed to the virus in the province.

75 people remain in hospital and 20 have been admitted to intensive care units.

727,335 tests have been completed among 601,748 different people.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is a follows:

  • Calgary zone – 6,640 cases, 428 active
    • 114 deaths
    • 249,081 tests
  • Edmonton zone – 1,801 cases, 308 active
    • 50 deaths
    • 197,005 tests
  • South zone – 1,675 cases, 98 active
    • 17 deaths
    • 43,461 tests
  • North zone – 614 cases, 113 active
    • 18 deaths (one new)
    • 50,862 tests
  • Central zone – 482 cases, 193 active
    • Four deaths (two new)
    • 50,400 tests

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,123 cases, zero active, nine deaths
  • Lethbridge – 130 cases (one new), 40 active, two deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 48 cases (one new), six active, one death
    • South Lethbridge – 47 cases, 23 active
    • North Lethbridge – 35 cases, 11 active, one death
  • Cardston County – 100 cases (one new), 14 active, four deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 64 cases, four active, one death
  • County of Warner – 54 cases, two active, one death
  • M.D. of Taber – 37 cases, seven active
  • Fort Macleod – 32 cases, 10 active
  • Cypress County – 31 cases, zero active
  • Lethbridge County – 27 cases, three active
  • County of Newell – 26 cases, five active
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 23 cases, four active
  • County of Forty Mile – 16 cases (one new), seven active
  • Crowsnest Pass – Two cases, zero active
