Only three new COVID cases in South Zone but 121 provincially

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Government of Alberta has released Wednesday’s report on COVID-19, detailing the numbers over the past 24 hours.

121 new cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 11,893. Of those, 1,044 cases are active while 10,632 people have recovered.

That includes just three infections in the South Health Zone with two in Medicine Hat and one in North Lethbridge.

One person in the Edmonton Zone has died as a result of the virus, meaning it has now claimed the lives of 217 Albertans.

50 people are currently hospitalized and 13 have been admitted to intensive care units.

785,361 tests have been completed among 641,870 different people in the province.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is a follows:

  • Calgary zone – 6,799 cases, 312 active
    • 116 deaths
    • 264,530 tests
  • Edmonton zone – 2,136 cases, 470 active
    • 55 deaths (one new)
    • 211,653 tests
  • South zone – 1,707 cases, 55 active
    • 20 deaths
    • 46,047 tests
  • North zone – 680 cases, 111 active
    • 21 deaths
    • 54,052 tests
  • Central zone – 545 cases, 92 active
    • Five deaths
    • 53,837 tests

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,124 cases, one active, nine deaths
  • Lethbridge – 143 cases (one new), 15 active, two deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 54 cases, six active
    • West Lethbridge – 51 cases, three active, one death
    • North Lethbridge – 38 cases (one new), six active, one death
  • Cardston County – 102 cases, seven active, four deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 67 cases (two new), five active, two deaths
  • County of Warner – 55 cases, one active, one death
  • M.D. of Taber – 38 cases, one active, one death
  • Fort Macleod – 33 cases, six active, one death
  • Cypress County – 31 cases, zero active
  • Lethbridge County – 30 cases, four active
  • County of Newell – 28 cases, five active, one death
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 25 cases, four active
  • County of Forty Mile – 19 cases, six active
  • Crowsnest Pass – Two cases, zero active
