AHS reinstating parking fees at Chinook Regional Hospital

Aug 13, 2020 | 11:49 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The brief days of free hospital parking will soon be over.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) says, as part of a return to normal business, they will be reinstating parking fees for employees on August 31 and for the public on September 1.

“Parking fees help AHS control the flow of traffic and ensure appropriate parking spaces are available for staff and visitors, keeping our facilities accessible as traffic again increases,” reads a press release from AHS.

Parking rates will be the same as they were before becoming temporarily free in April 2020.

In the South Health Zone, only two facilities are part of the public parking system – Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge and Medicine Hat Regional Hospital.

The fees are as follows:

  • Short Term Public Parking Rates:
    • Parkade:
      • $1.25 per half hour or portion thereof
      • Daily maximum $8.50
    • Surface Parking:
      • $1.25 per half hour or portion thereof
      • Daily parking pass $8.50 available from pay stations
  • Long Term Rates for Patients and Visitors:
    • Weekly parking pass: $37.00
    • Monthly parking pass: $57.00
    • Weekly and monthly passes are available at the parking office.
