New COVID cases fall to 76 in Alberta, three in South Zone

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Government of Alberta has released Thursday’s report on COVID-19, detailing the numbers over the past 24 hours.

76 new cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 11,969. Of those, 1,036 cases are active while 10,713 people have recovered.

That includes just three more infections in the South Health Zone with one each in Brooks and the Counties of Newell and Forty Mile.

Active cases in the region have fallen to 52.

Another three Albertans have died as a result of the virus with one each in the Edmonton, North, and Central Zones. To date, COVID-19 has claimed 220 lives in the province.

50 people are currently hospitalized and 12 have been admitted to intensive care units.

793,114 tests have been completed among 647,281 different people.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is a follows:

• Calgary zone – 6,833 cases, 314 active
  • 116 deaths
  • 266,994 tests
• Edmonton zone – 2,166 cases, 475 active
  • 56 deaths (one new)
  • 213,394 tests
• South zone – 1,710 cases, 52 active
  • 20 deaths
  • 46,305 tests
• North zone – 689 cases, 104 active
  • 22 deaths (one new)
  • 54,533 tests
• Central zone – 545 cases, 88 active
  • Six deaths (one new)
  • 54,200 tests

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

• Brooks – 1,125 cases (one new), two active, nine deaths
• Lethbridge – 143 cases, 13 active, two deaths
  • South Lethbridge – 54 cases, six active
  • West Lethbridge – 51 cases, three active, one death
  • North Lethbridge – 38 cases, four active, one death
• Cardston County – 102 cases, six active, four deaths
• Medicine Hat – 67 cases, five active, two deaths
• County of Warner – 55 cases, one active, one death
• M.D. of Taber – 38 cases, one active, one death
• Fort Macleod – 33 cases, five active, one death
• Cypress County – 31 cases, zero active
• Lethbridge County – 30 cases, three active
• County of Newell – 29 cases (one new), six active, one death
• M.D. of Pincher Creek – 25 cases, three active
• County of Forty Mile – 20 cases (one new), seven active
• Crowsnest Pass – Two cases, zero active
