Only two active COVID cases remain in Lethbridge, south side has none

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Government of Alberta has released Friday’s report on COVID-19, detailing the numbers over the past 24 hours.

144 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 12,748. Of those, 1,148 are still active while 11,374 people have recovered.

Most of the new infections were in the Edmonton and Calgary zone, but none were in the South Health Zone.

Active cases in the region fell to just 28.

For Lethbridge, only two infections are still active – one in the west and one in the north. The south side is completely free of active cases.

On July 31, LNN reported that there were 51 active cases in the city.

One person each in the Calgary and North Zones died as a result of the virus, meaning it has now claimed the lives of 230 Albertans.

43 patients are currently hospitalized and nine have been admitted to intensive care units.

865,835 tests have been completed among 697,546 different Albertans.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is a follows:

  • Calgary zone – 7,026 cases, 294 active
    • 118 deaths (one new)
    • 288,112 tests
  • Edmonton zone – 2,637 cases, 676 active
    • 56 deaths
    • 229,223 tests
  • South zone – 1,720 cases, 28 active
    • 23 deaths
    • 50,103 tests
  • North zone – 767 cases, 110 active
    • 26 deaths (one new)
    • 59,029 tests
  • Central zone – 567 cases, 30 active
    • Seven deaths
    • 58,513 tests

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,127 cases, four active, nine deaths
  • Lethbridge – 143 cases, two active, two deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 54 cases, zero active
    • West Lethbridge – 51 cases, one active, one death
    • North Lethbridge – 38 cases, one active, one death
  • Cardston County – 102 cases, two active, five deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 67 cases, three active, two deaths
  • County of Warner – 59 cases, five active, one death
  • M.D. of Taber – 37 cases, two active, one death
  • Fort Macleod – 33 cases, one active, two deaths
  • Cypress County – 31 cases, zero active
  • County of Newell – 30 cases, three active, one death
  • Lethbridge County – 30 cases, two active
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 26 cases, one active, one death
  • County of Forty Mile – 20 cases, one active
  • Crowsnest Pass – Two cases, zero active
