Classes to start September 8 for Kainai Board of Education schools

Aug 24, 2020 | 11:09 AM

STANDOFF, AB – The Kainai Board of Education has announced that classes will begin on September 8.

The start date applies for both in-person and out of school learning.

The board stated that the safety of students and staff is its main priority and a later start date was chosen to prepare further for the year and implement COVID-19 protocols.

The board is recommending that all parents and guardians register their child before Tuesday, September 1, as early registration will help staff provide the “smoothest transition to the new school year” for students.

“Student registrations are needed to develop cohort lists as well as coordinate bussing for all students,” noted superintendent of schools Cam Shade, in a release.

All Kanai Board of Education schools are open and taking registrations, with many different options available for parents. Registration can also be done online.

Shade said all staff will be tested for COVID-19 prior to the start of classes.

“We ask that, if possible, parents arrange for COVID-19 testing for their child prior to the start of classes,” Shade stated.

“We look forward to welcoming your child back to our schools [for] either in class learning or out of school learning.”
