LETHBRIDGE, AB– Wood’s Homes in Lethbridge received a 550-pound-donation Thursday that will feed many hungry tummies.

16-year-old Julie Ketchmark raised her calf, Magnus, and knew he would be going towards something good.

“I’ve always had a passion for helping youth that are less fortunate than I am and so this was kind of a very easy choice, I’ve always been surrounded by people who’ve encouraged giving to those who are less fortunate.”

Ketchmark says to give to someone in need feels amazing and wholehearted.

Wood’s Homes is a non-profit mental health centre that provides treatment and support for children, youth, and families with mental health needs.

Team leader at Wood’s Homes Kelsey DesRouche knows this donation is very important for the children in need.

“It’s so important to us, between our three programs we have over 100 families and youth that we work with that access supports such as the food bank – having a donation like this definitely helps.”

This donation of a calf to a charity is the second in a matter of weeks by an individual from the Ketchmark family.

Julie’s younger sister, 12-year-old Eva Ketchmark gave her calf to the Lethbridge Soup Kitchen in a very similar story.

The 4-H club is proud to have two young girls giving back towards people in-need.
