South Zone COVID cases remain flat while 108 confirmed provincially

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Government of Alberta has released Thursday’s report on COVID-19, detailing the numbers over the past 24 hours.

108 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 13,318. Of those, 1,158 cases are active while 11,923 people have recovered.

None of the new infections were in the South Health Zone.

The overall number of cases to date in Lethbridge remains at 145 but there is a slight change in where the patients are in the city.

AHS reported Wednesday that there was one active case on the south and west sides. The one case on the south side has been deleted and both active infections are now in the west.

The number of active infections in the South Health Zone fell from 20 to just 18.

One person each in the Edmonton and North Zones died as a result of the virus, meaning it has now claimed the lives of 237 Albertans.

49 patients are currently in hospital and seven have been admitted to intensive care units.

922,397 tests have been completed in Alberta among 736,405 different people.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is a follows:

  • Calgary zone – 7,243 cases, 375 active
    • 118 deaths
    • 303,149 tests
  • Edmonton zone – 2,889 cases, 589 active
    • 60 deaths (one new)
    • 242,313 tests
  • South zone – 1,726 cases, 18 active
    • 24 deaths
    • 52,307 tests
  • North zone – 855 cases, 148 active
    • 28 deaths (one new)
    • 63,417 tests
  • Central zone – 574 cases, 25 active
    • Seven deaths
    • 61,945 tests

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,127 cases, three active, nine deaths
  • Lethbridge – 145 cases, two active, two deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 54 cases, zero active
    • West Lethbridge – 53 cases, two active, one death
    • North Lethbridge – 38 cases, zero active, one death
  • Cardston County – 102 cases, one active, five deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 67 cases, zero active, two deaths
  • County of Warner – 59 cases, five active, one death
  • M.D. of Taber – 38 cases, one active
  • Fort Macleod – 33 cases, zero active, three deaths
  • County of Newell – 32 cases, three active, one death
  • Cypress County – 31 cases, zero active
  • Lethbridge County – 30 cases, zero active
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 26 cases, one active, one death
  • County of Forty Mile – 21 cases, one active
  • Crowsnest Pass – Two cases, zero active
