AHS confirms 158 new COVID cases across Alberta

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Government of Alberta has released Friday’s report on COVID-19, detailing the numbers over the past 24 hours.

158 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 13,476. Of those, 1,185 cases are active and 12,054 people have recovered.

Most of the new infections were in the Calgary Zone but just five were in the South health Zone.

In the region, two people tested positive in both Brooks and Lethbridge County while there was one more for the City of Lethbridge.

Active cases in the South Zone increased slightly to 23.

There were no additional deaths, meaning COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 237 Albertans.

44 patients are currently hospitalized and seven have been admitted to intensive care units.

933,365 tests have been completed among 744,053 different Albertans.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is a follows:

  • Calgary zone – 7,334 cases, 435 active
    • 118 deaths
    • 305,849 tests
  • Edmonton zone – 2,992 cases, 544 active
    • 60 deaths
    • 244,709 tests
  • South zone – 1,732 cases, 23 active
    • 24 deaths
    • 52,726 tests
  • North zone – 876 cases, 154 active
    • 28 deaths
    • 64,689 tests
  • Central zone – 576 cases, 21 active
    • Seven deaths
    • 62,700 tests

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,129 cases (two new), five active, nine deaths
  • Lethbridge – 147 cases (one new), three active, two deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 55 cases, zero active
    • West Lethbridge – 54 cases (one new), three active, one death
    • North Lethbridge – 38 cases, zero active, one death
  • Cardston County – 102 cases, one active, five deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 67 cases, zero active, two deaths
  • County of Warner – 59 cases, five active, one death
  • M.D. of Taber – 38 cases, one active
  • Fort Macleod – 33 cases, zero active, three deaths
  • County of Newell – 32 cases, three active, one death
  • Cypress County – 31 cases, zero active
  • Lethbridge County – 32 cases (two new), two active
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 26 cases, one active, one death
  • County of Forty Mile – 21 cases, one active
  • Crowsnest Pass – Two cases, zero active
