Coalhurst train derailment under investigation

COALHURST, AB – A weekend train derailment in southern Alberta is currently under investigation.

The incident happened at around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5. A CP train derailed in the Kipp rail yard in Coalhurst.

Salem Woodrow with CP Rail confirmed that there were no injuries to the crew, and there were no reported leaks or spills from the derailment.

The incident was one of many that first responded attended on Saturday.

The Coalhurst Fire Department was on site of the derailment for approximately seven hours, before tending to a large grass fire on the Blood Reserve.
