LETHBRIDGE, AB – Some road work starting next week is set to result in some lengthy closures along Metis Trail West in Lethbridge.

McNally Contractors are beginning deep and shallow services along the stretch of road, from south of Coalbanks Link to south of Temple Boulevard. That work will start Monday, September 21.

The city of Lethbridge says as a result, closures will be in place from the following Monday, September 28th to around November 27th, weather permitting.

City officials have noted that 25 Street West, which ties into Metis Trail, will be closed during this time but will re-open on November 27 for the winter months.

There will be no access to Metis Trail from Temple Boulevard. Pedestrian pathways will stay open, except for a few days on the easy side of Metis Trail when electrical work is needed.

Detour signage will be set up to accommodate local traffic within the affected work areas.

The city is asking motorists to drive with caution and to follow construction and detour signs, in order to ensure the safety of all construction workers.

The next phase of this project is slated to start in the spring of 2021.
