CROWSNEST PASS, AB – One person has been confirmed to be arrested twice in the same week for allegedly using counterfeit cash from the U.S.

On Friday, officers were called on a report of a suspicious vehicle in the community of Frank where two people were inside.

It was determined that the suspects used a counterfeit bill at a local retailer.

They were arrested and RCMP found an additional quantity of counterfeit U.S. currency.

Clayton Wayne Jordan, 37, or Red Deer, has been charged with uttering and possessing counterfeit money, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000, mischief under $5,000, and possession of a controlled substance.

He was arrested last Monday for similar charges in Claresholm.

The name of the second person is not being released at this time as information has not been officially sworn in at court. A member of Crowsnest Pass RCMP did not deny to LNN that this was the second person arrested in Claresholm.

Both have been released on a promise to appear in Pincher Creek Provincial Court.

Officials are advising that, despite these arrests, counterfeit currency could still be circulating in the community.
